TASTRAK PADC
TASTRAK is supplied to over 80 countries worldwide.
TASTRAK, a form of PADC, is a clear, stable plastic which is sensitive to energetic protons, alpha-particles and heavier nuclei. After exposure, the tracks may be revealed by etching the material in solutions such as caustic alkalis.
TASTRAK has many applications in radiation detection, including radon measurements (more than one million radon measurements have been made with the material), neutron dosimetry and laser plasma fusion studies.It has also been utilised in alpha-particle autoradiography and low-level counting, uranium exploration, cosmic ray studies and the teaching of radioactivity in schools and colleges. The Human Radiation Effects Group in the Physics Department at Bristol University uses TASTRAK for analysing natural alpha- radioactivity in the human body and for a wide range of studies of natural alpha- emitters in the environment.
Cut plastics may be of any size, rectangular, circular or of more complex shape. Scribed features include rectangular boxes, circles, incrementing numbers, dot codes, titles and drilled holes. We will be pleased to supply customised cut and engraved TASTRAK in any almost conceivable size shape and quantity – please contact us for a quote. TASLSA will only be providing a radon dosimetry service but will get involved with neutron dosimetry etc. should there be a need in Southern Africa.

Appearance: Clear, colourless, rigid plastic
Density: 1.30g.cm-3
Available thicknesses: 0.75, 1.0 and 1.5 mm
Specialist thicknesses: 100 – 200 microns and 500 microns
Tested for: Background and alpha-particle response
Supplied as: Whole sheets or cut and scribed as required
